About the event

Teaching children water safety, road safety and sun safety tends to come more naturally to many parents, carers and grandparents. However, personal safety and body safety can be more challenging. You will leave this workshop with up- to-date information, conversation starters, practical strategies and resource recommendations.

Topics covered include:

  • Child Abuse and Grooming Behaviours
  • Being Safe and Feeling Safe
  • Social Norms and Gender Stereotypes
  • Emotional Intelligence, Feelings and Emotional Regulation
  • Body Clues (Warning Signs)
  • Safety – Assessing Risk and Problem Solving 
  • Safe and Unsafe Secrets and Secret Enablers
  • Public and Private Concepts (Includes: body parts, clothing, places, spaces, information, behaviours, photos and videos)
  • Body Safety
  • Body Autonomy, Body Boundaries, Consent and Respect
  • Personal Space and Assertiveness
  • Help Seeking, Support and Persistence
